Qi Gong..........Moving Meditation
Its great to spend time relaxing. This is all very well but when the relaxation is over you just pick up your rucksack of worry and start the stress process again.
People spend more time worrying about a problem than it takes to solve it and the worrying is an ineffective part of the process so if you have a tool to help empty your mind and to stop those thoughts it can only be beneficial. This is the aim of Qi Gong, to stop negative self talk.
Regular practice can help reduce stress, build endurance, increase vitality, and aid in warding off illness. You learn valuable self-care skills that, with diligent practice, will benefit you for many years
Qi-gong requires no lifestyle changes, however as you practice, you may find your tastes and desires changing in a healthier direction. For instance, you will find an increase in energy which will make you less reliant on caffeine. You will sleep soundly and have less need for sleep aids. You will begin to sense the kinds and amounts of foods that your body requires.
This is of course, is the tool of Qi Gong at face value, it offers so much more in terms of being a gateway to enjoying a life where you can close off the thoughts that constantly invade your mind.
The way in which the sessions are presented is to make Qi Gong available to mainstream everyday people and to break the misconception that only 'tree-huggers do qi gong'.
Tai Chi.........Scientific
Sensitivity Training
Originally Tai chi was a training method for the weapon of choice of
the day which was the spear. Metal was expensive and the cheapest
weapon was to sharpen one end of a bamboo stick. It was used as a tool
to train the people and it evolved into a comprehensive spear system.
This was a state of the art system in
those days so to hide it, so that it could not be copied, they
put the sticks down and started to do the movements with an empty
hand.
It was here that Tai Chi as most people recognise it was born.
The
people noticed their health and spirit growing, the reason for this is
when you do your tai chi with a stick you send your focus, power and
intent down the spear in a physical way .
This increases the impulse sent from your central nervous system to the
proprioreceptors to fire the muscles. This means that you get stronger.
When you then do it without the spear
you create the same force inside the body but you do not use any of it,
then you can feel your 'chi'. This is not a mystical phenomenon but a
very real scientific change in the body. It helps to free the
resistance of the diaphragm and in turn charges the solar plexus
will increases the charge in the body. So you literally become
more positive.
The use of the spear means that you
have a very real feeling, you can experience this movement of energy.
It is not abstract as what happens when you learn starting from the
basis of empty hands.
You should start where they started in
history and let the process evolve as it did then. The only difference
for you is that you have the information from the end of the journey
with you as you travel, making it easier to reach the destination.
The most efficient way to learn tai chi
is to start with the spear, otherwise the movements with be empty,
replications if the movements that you copy from the person showing
you. You will receive far greater benefit by starting with the
non-abstract method.
